Man-Machine Interface

What has been done by using control elements such as buttons and simple displays is now managed with touchscreens and modern displays. This allows better visualization, easy control and attractive equipment design. The human-machine interface (HMI) therefore focuses on user-friendliness. Complex processes, images or information easily and quickly is captured, evaluated and controlled. Examples for such interfaces are

  • Medical devices
  • Wearables
  • Industrial controls
  • Home appliances
  • Vehicles
  • IIoT - Industrial Internet of Things
  • Energy technology

Perfect solutions must be well planned and defined. We are at your disposal with our expert knowledge and support you in choosing the right solution.

Optimal Displays for Many Applications

The user interface should be as efficient as possible. Every application has different requirements. In order to offer the optimum for the user, the interface must therefore be adapted for each application. This also requires a more precise analysis of the display or touch screen.

Let us look at some examples from medical technology. Medical devices are diverse and therefore allows conclusions about other areas of application. High-resolution displays are a must for certain applications in medical technology. This is a good way, for example, to view the retina in detail and find a possible defect. For X-rays or images from CT scanners, you need a high-contrast display that shows the finest differences in grayscales. So even the smallest changes are recognised. Portable blood pressure monitors, on the other hand, should be energy efficient, and this applies to the display too. Legibility has to be good, just think of older people. Fitness trackers (wristbands) also require an easy-to-read display with low power consumption to conserve the battery. In addition, it should be small and further not cost much. Analyzers in laboratories often show parameters. The resolution can therefore be lower, but it should also be suitable for displaying measurement graphs. The same applies to ECG devices. Mobile ventilators need a good display in order to recognize the information even from some distance. In addition implementing touch technology allows quick settings directly via the display. The aforementioned devices use this technology as well.

Depending on the requirements, one or more characteristics are decisive in determining for which display technology is most suitable in combination with a touch. CODICO’s strength lies in knowing these details. Take advantage of our expertise for your projects. We are interested in working with you to find the ideal product for your application.
