Cost-Efficient Solution
Card edge connectors are a one-piece plug system and offer a high degree of economy and flexibility at the same time. In addition to standardised card socket solutions (Mini PCIe®, PCI Express®, SO-DIMM, DDR etc.), which have proven themselves in the telecom/datacom and other consumer sectors, solutions with cable connection are also available.
Card Edge connectors have the advantage that a single connector is used to contact the PCB. This cost-efficient solution has already found its way into many connector families. There are IDC solutions for automotive and household appliances, as well as screw and push-in connectors for industrial applications. Latching is carried out directly on the PCB and numerous coding variants are available. Due to this product variety, both data and high-current transmissions can be realised in a small space.
